I do think that's an interesting point Chris. But you can't ignore the fact that he's the first to send humans into space from US soil in a decade. That wouldn't happen without Musk. Space cargo now ships regularly from his rockets. He has developed reusable rockets to dramatically reduce the cost of space flights.

Tesla's had their faults, but now roads everywhere are filled with his product. Why? because they work!

Fanboys or not, people follow his lead because his ideas work. And I don't think that's debatable anymore.
