I'm horrible when it comes to distractions. Social media especially. I wrote this a while ago but I think it will help your readers with the distraction part of productivity.
"Remote work tip for COVID-19 straight from Greek mythology:
Odysseus was sailing home from the politically charged but uneventful Trojan Wars when he remembered that sirens liked to hang out in these waters!
Sirens, of course, are the beautiful but deadly island creatures that lure sailors with their angelic voices - aka your distractions (IG, Twitter, Netflix)
Growing nervous, Odysseus ordered his crew to put wax in his ears and tie him to the ship’s mast. He then asked them not to untie him no matter how much he begged and cried.
When the ship passed the siren island, Odysseus heard to their songs, which I imagine sounded like Ariana Grande’s “break up with girlfriend, I’m bored”, and begged to be set free. His crew tighten the knots, and Odysseus escaped temptation.
What’s the lesson? If you find yourself distracted at home, tie yourself to the mast like Odysseus. Identify what distracts you and come up with tactics that will help you resist temptation."
