Sports psychologist George Mumford has a cool metaphor about mindset during anxious and chaotic moments.

He teaches, “respond from the eye of the Hurricane, rather from the chaos of the storm.”

The surface winds of hurricanes are chaotic, almost hellish, but eventually the winds become strong enough that they deflect away from the center leaving a calm “exact center” – as if the storm didn’t exist at all from that spot.

It’s nearly impossible to make good decisions, spark creativity, or see opportunities when you’re swept up in the chaos of a storm. And so, the eye of the hurricane is our metaphorical centered place of peace, strength, and clarity. A place where we can see the big picture take care of ourselves and others.

That's you!
