Success is funny. We become convinced of our own intelligence and immediately crawl back into the comfort zone. "I don't want to be challenged or made to feel stupid again,"

I let my ego get the better of me early in my twenties, also in the corporate world. I made real money for the first time in my life and I used that money as a scoreboard. Then I stopped learning. Go about your life long enough with that attitude and the hurricane eventually hits you.

The trick is to always remain a student. Damn, that's super stoic-y but it's true.

Neil deGrasse Tyson once tweeted, "as the area of our knowledge grows, so too does the perimeter of our ignorance." Don't let pride and greed blind you to that fact. That's how you build a path of destruction without realizing it.
